This artwork by Gervase Spencer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2007. In the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver & Russian Works of Art auction, the work Unknown sold for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,208.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gervase Spencer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750, which sold at auction in May 2020 for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,632.01).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Gervase Spencer erzielte im Dezember 2007 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver & Russian Works of Art wurde die Arbeit Unknown für GBP 1.625,00 (€ 2.208,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gervase Spencer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 beobachtet, die im Mai 2020 für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.632,01) versteigert wurde.
