Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Miniatures from a Private Collection, which included the work Portrait Of A Lady by Gervase Spencer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,375.00 (€ 3,027.79), 19% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gervase Spencer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750, which sold at auction in May 2020 for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,632.01).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Important Miniatures from a Private Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady von Gervase Spencer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.375,00 (€ 3.027,79) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gervase Spencer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 beobachtet, die im Mai 2020 für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.632,01) versteigert wurde.
