Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young lady in white dress adorned with pearls and blue ribbon, wearing an ermine-bordered turquoise surcoat, pink choker, her hair upswept by Gervase Spencer was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2005. The price achieved of GBP 600.00 (€ 889.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Admittedly, works by Gervase Spencer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,632.01).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 600,00 (€ 889,24) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gervase Spencer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.632,01).
