Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Selected Silver, and, which included the work A lady in white dress and blue surcoat, red rose at corsage, black choker, her fair hair falling in a ringlet by Gervase Spencer. The price achieved of GBP 336.00 (€ 493.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gervase Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,632.01).

Im November 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Selected Silver, and durch, in der auch die Arbeit A lady in white dress and blue surcoat, red rose at corsage, black choker, her fair hair falling in a ringlet von Gervase Spencer zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 336,00 (€ 493,63) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 400,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gervase Spencer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.632,01).
