Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2016 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Modern Art, which included the work three Zig-Zag elm chairs by Gerrit Rietveld. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 8,000.00 – 1,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 21,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerrit Rietveld achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hoge armchair, designed in 1919, our model of 1963 in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 214,200.00.
