Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The interior of a church looking east, with elegant company in the foreground by Gerard Houckgeest was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001. The price achieved of GBP 17,625.00 (€ 28,046.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gerard Houckgeest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The west end of the Oude Kerk, Delft, from the southern aisle to the north, with the organ loft in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 187,200.00 (€ 277,828.23).
