Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French on The Bosphorus by Fabius Brest was sold in the The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in London in April 2015. It changed hands for a price of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 102,992.30) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Fabius Brest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Beiram; cérémonie de baise-main à Constantinople, sous le Sultan Mahmoud II in October 2005 with an auction result of USD 598,400.00 (€ 498,874.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit French on The Bosphorus von Fabius Brest wurde im April 2015 in der Auktion The Orientalist Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 102.992,30) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fabius Brest auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Beiram; cérémonie de baise-main à Constantinople, sous le Sultan Mahmoud II im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 598.400,00 (€ 498.874,53).
