Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work French on The Bosphorus by Fabius Brest. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 46,850.00 (€ 53,573.12), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Fabius Brest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Beiram; cérémonie de baise-main à Constantinople, sous le Sultan Mahmoud II in October 2005 with an auction result of USD 598,400.00 (€ 498,874.53).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 19th Century European Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit French on The Bosphorus von Fabius Brest zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 46.850,00 (€ 53.573,12) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fabius Brest auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Beiram; cérémonie de baise-main à Constantinople, sous le Sultan Mahmoud II im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 598.400,00 (€ 498.874,53).
