Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Javaanse Boer Met Haan (Javanese Farmer With Cockerel) by Gerard Pieter Adolfs was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 45,000.00 – 65,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 50,000.00 (€ 5,147.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Gerard Pieter Adolfs have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Beeldhouwer Bali (Balinese sculptor) in October 2004 with an auction result of HKD 262,900.00 (€ 26,483.89).
