This artwork by Geraldine Javier achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2012. In the Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Blackbird Singing sold for HKD 800,000.00 (€ 79,323.60) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 400,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Geraldine Javier; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Ella amo' apasionadamente y fue correspondida (For she loved fiercely, and she is well-loved) sold at auction in May 2010 with the realized price of HKD 1,460,000.00 (€ 151,677.58).
