Auction result well in line with expectations

The work "Uppercut" by Gerald Scarfe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,156.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerald Scarfe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Churchill In The House Of Commons in April 2017 with an auction result of GBP 118,750.00 (€ 141,017.67).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit "Uppercut" von Gerald Scarfe kam im April 2017 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.156,31) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerald Scarfe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Churchill In The House Of Commons im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 118.750,00 (€ 141.017,67).
