A top price for Gerald Scarfe - as previously expected

In April 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Scarfe at Sotheby's, which included the work Churchill In The House Of Commons by Gerald Scarfe. The price achieved of GBP 118,750.00 (€ 141,017.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Churchill In The House Of Commons is the most expensive artwork by Gerald Scarfe that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im April 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scarfe at Sotheby's durch, in der auch die Arbeit Churchill In The House Of Commons von Gerald Scarfe zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 118.750,00 (€ 141.017,67) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Churchill In The House Of Commons das teuerste Kunstwerk von Gerald Scarfe, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
