In October 2020 Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work The Sam Sui Worker by Georgette Chen. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 2,750,625.00 (€ 304,654.10), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Georgette Chen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life with Big Durian in May this year with an auction result of HKD 14,290,000.00 (€ 1,712,814.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Bonhams in Hong Kong die Auktion Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Sam Sui Worker von Georgette Chen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 2.750.625,00 (€ 304.654,10) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Georgette Chen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life with Big Durian im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 14.290.000,00 (€ 1.712.814,91).
