In May 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) / Contemporaries: Voices from East and West (Evening Sale), which included the work Still Life with Rambutans, Mangosteens and Pineapple by Georgette Chen. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 4,300,000.00 (€ 469,794.34), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Georgette Chen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Big Durian, which sold at auction in May this year for HKD 14,290,000.00 (€ 1,712,814.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2018 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) / Contemporaries: Voices from East and West (Evening Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Still Life with Rambutans, Mangosteens and Pineapple von Georgette Chen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 4.300.000,00 (€ 469.794,34) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Georgette Chen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life with Big Durian beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für HKD 14.290.000,00 (€ 1.712.814,91) versteigert wurde.
