Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2011 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, Art from the 19th, 20th and the 21st Centuries, which included the work A shipwreck by George Willem Opdenhoff. The price achieved of EUR 2,500.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Willem Opdenhoff achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping in a calm; Shipping on a choppy sea in October 2000 with an auction result of NLG 81,914.00 (€ 39,316.02).
