Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A young ghillie with his dogs by George William Horlor was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,123.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George William Horlor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The day's bag in October 2003 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 66,325.43).
