In July 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work 'Tygers At Play' by George Stubbs. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,698,500.00 (€ 9,710,229.01), 28% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Stubbs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a trainer, a jockey and a stable lad, which sold at auction in July 2011 for GBP 22,441,250.00 (€ 25,754,691.64).

Im Juli 2014 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Tygers At Play' von George Stubbs zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.698.500,00 (€ 9.710.229,01) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Stubbs mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a trainer, a jockey and a stable lad beobachtet, die im Juli 2011 für GBP 22.441.250,00 (€ 25.754.691,64) versteigert wurde.
