Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Two Bay Hunters In A Paddock by George Stubbs. The price achieved of GBP 1,689,000.00 (€ 1,900,722.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stubbs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a trainer, a jockey and a stable lad in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 22,441,250.00 (€ 25,754,691.64).
