Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lord Grosvenor'S Sweet William In A Landscape by George Stubbs was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 187,500.00 (€ 205,862.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stubbs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a trainer, a jockey and a stable lad in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 22,441,250.00 (€ 25,754,691.64).
