Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Stubbs could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction, the work James Hamilton, 2Nd Earl Of Clanbrassil (1730-1798), With His Bay Hunter Mowbray, Resting On A Wooded Path By A Lake changed hands for GBP 1,426,500.00 (€ 1,715,858.26) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500,000.00 – 2,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stubbs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a trainer, a jockey and a stable lad in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 22,441,250.00 (€ 25,754,691.64).
In der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale wechselte die Arbeit James Hamilton, 2Nd Earl Of Clanbrassil (1730-1798), With His Bay Hunter Mowbray, Resting On A Wooded Path By A Lake für GBP 1.426.500,00 (€ 1.715.858,26) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500.000,00 – 2.500.000,00.
