This price was achieved in the auction Travel & Exploration at Bonhams in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Strahan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The bathing ghat in Haridwar, India sold at auction in June this year with the realized price of GBP 4,864.00 (€ 5,660.86).
