Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration, which included the work A folio containing twelve views of Kashmir from 1884 to 1907 each 35.5 x 25.4cm (14 x 10in). (12) by George Strahan. The price achieved of GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,720.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Strahan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The bathing ghat in Haridwar, India, which sold at auction in June this year for GBP 4,864.00 (€ 5,660.86).
A folio containing twelve views of Kashmir from 1884 to 1907 each 35.5 x 25.4cm (14 x 10in).
