This artwork by George Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Olympia in July 2007. In the British & Continental Pictures including Sporting and Marine Paintings auction, the work Fondly Gazing sold for GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,554.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Home - Be It Ever So Humble in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 54,000.00 (€ 80,202.47).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Smith erzielte im Juli 2007 bei Sothebys in Olympia einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British & Continental Pictures including Sporting and Marine Paintings wurde die Arbeit Fondly Gazing für GBP 5.760,00 (€ 8.554,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Home - Be It Ever So Humble im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 54.000,00 (€ 80.202,47).
