The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,881.22), 47% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Shalders - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A meeting at sunset, which sold at auction in September 2007 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 8,065.84).
