Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for 'Medea slaughtering her children' and A study for 'Mrs Yates as the Tragic Muse' (recto); and Study for 'The Execution of Mary Queen of Scots' (verso) by George Romney was sold in the Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July this year. The price achieved of GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,555.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study for 'Medea slaughtering her children' and A study for 'Mrs Yates as the Tragic Muse' (recto); and Study for 'The Execution of Mary Queen of Scots' (verso) von George Romney wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert.
