Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Thomas Walker (circa 1747-1817), half-length, in black by George Romney was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year. The price achieved of GBP 6,375.00 (€ 7,196.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Walker (circa 1747-1817), half-length, in black von George Romney kam im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.375,00 (€ 7.196,75) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Romney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.002.500,00 (€ 5.048.410,94).
