Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online, which included the work Portrait of George Morewood (1720-1792) of Alfreton Park, Derbyshire, full-length, in a green suit with a walking stick by George Romney. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 63,000.00 (€ 63,418.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of George Morewood (1720-1792) of Alfreton Park, Derbyshire, full-length, in a green suit with a walking stick von George Romney zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 63.000,00 (€ 63.418,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Romney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.002.500,00 (€ 5.048.410,94).
