Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Christies in New York held the auction Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection, which included the work Woman in an evening dress, 1930s-1940s by George Platt Lynes. The price achieved of USD 1,638.00 (€ 1,554.52) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Platt Lynes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yul Brynner, 1942 in October 2005 with an auction result of USD 16,800.00 (€ 14,005.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman in an evening dress, 1930s-1940s von George Platt Lynes zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.638,00 (€ 1.554,52) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Platt Lynes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Yul Brynner, 1942 im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.800,00 (€ 14.005,84).
