Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2014 a collector was able to acquire the work Two messengers on camels, attached to the Governor General’s Camp by George Landseer for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,511.35). This price was achieved in the auction Topographical Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by George Landseer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Sir Chamarajendra Wodyar, Maharajah of Mysore, seated, half-length, in a white costume with a belt bearing a miniature portrait of Queen Victoria and a blue and gold turban in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,746.00).
