In October 2012 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science and Natural History, which included the work Portrait of His Highness The Maharajah Holkar of Indore, Seated Full Length On A Cushion by George Landseer. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,656.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Other works by George Landseer have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2000 the work Portrait of Sir Chamarajendra Wodyar, Maharajah of Mysore, seated, half-length, in a white costume with a belt bearing a miniature portrait of Queen Victoria and a blue and gold turban was auctioned for GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,746.00).
