This artwork by George Howard achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2014. In the A Green and Pleasant Land: Two Centuries of British Landscape Painting auction, the work Bamburgh Castle sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,301.61) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Howard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bordighera, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 9,987.50 (€ 16,591.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Howard erzielte im Mai 2014 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion A Green and Pleasant Land: Two Centuries of British Landscape Painting wurde die Arbeit Bamburgh Castle für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.301,61) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Howard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bordighera beobachtet, die im Juni 2001 für GBP 9.987,50 (€ 16.591,22) versteigert wurde.
