Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work After Sundown, Montclair, New Jersey by George Inness. Here, the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 125,000.00 (€ 107,314.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Inness achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset on the River in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,945,000.00 (€ 1,250,000.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit After Sundown, Montclair, New Jersey von George Inness zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 125.000,00 (€ 107.314,56) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Inness erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunset on the River im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.945.000,00 (€ 1.250.000,00).
