This artwork by George Inness achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January last year. In the 19th Century American Art auction, the work A Glimpse of the Hudson, near Tarrytown sold for USD 68,750.00 (€ 61,318.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Inness achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset on the River in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,945,000.00 (€ 1,250,000.00).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Inness erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunset on the River im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.945.000,00 (€ 1.250.000,00).
