This artwork by George Inness achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January last year. In the 19th Century American Art auction, the work A Glimpse of the Hudson, near Tarrytown sold for USD 68,750.00 (€ 61,318.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Inness achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset on the River in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,945,000.00 (€ 1,250,000.00).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Inness erzielte im Januar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century American Art wurde die Arbeit A Glimpse of the Hudson, near Tarrytown für USD 68.750,00 (€ 61.318,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Inness erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunset on the River im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.945.000,00 (€ 1.250.000,00).
