Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Houston could be acquired at Bonhams in Edinburgh in October 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Scottish Sale auction, the work Inveraray, two views in pencil, each signed and dated 1931 on label, together with a view of Argyll, signed lower left, 18cm wide, 25cm deep (7in wide, 9 1/2in deep) (3) changed hands for GBP 191.25 (€ 226.58) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Houston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Springtime in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 31,700.00 (€ 40,323.79).
In der Auktion The Scottish Sale wechselte die Arbeit Inveraray, two views in pencil, each signed and dated 1931 on label, together with a view of Argyll, signed lower left, 18cm wide, 25cm deep (7in wide, 9 1/2in deep) (3) für GBP 191,25 (€ 226,58) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 400,00.
