Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An aerial torpedo attack on a German capital ship by George Horace Davis was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,553.50 (€ 1,248.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Horace Davis achieve.
