Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by George Herms was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 375.00 (€ 289.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Herms achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Song for Hope in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 18,750.00 (€ 13,671.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von George Herms im Oktober 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 375,00 (€ 289,40) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Herms erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Song for Hope im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 13.671,16).
