Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of A Gentleman, Half Length; And A Companion Portrait of A Lady by George Henry Durrie for USD 2,880.00 (€ 2,130.18). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Henry Durrie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work To Hartford--IX Miles in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 607,500.00 (€ 540,672.84).
