Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A family by candlelight by George Gillis Haanen was sold in the Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 2,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Gillis Haanen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Oudegracht with a view of the Old Town Hall and the Dom Tower beyond, Utrecht in November 2001 with an auction result of USD 41,125.00 (€ 45,908.68).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 2.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
