The »bidding war« ended at GBP 112,500.00 (€ 125,672.53), 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
