Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A Study with the Peacock's Feathers by George Frederick Watts was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 525,000.00 (€ 586,471.79). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Frederick Watts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hope, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A Study with the Peacock's Feathers von George Frederick Watts kam im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 525.000,00 (€ 586.471,79) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von George Frederick Watts mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hope beobachtet, die im Juni 2001 für GBP 773.750,00 (€ 1.285.352,70) versteigert wurde.
