Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Eclipse Stakes, Sandown Park, 1888 by George Finch Mason was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 334.60 (€ 497.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Finch Mason achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The London To Norwich Coach With A Hunt Beyond in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 5,975.00 (€ 8,595.01).
