Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work A Natural History of Uncommon Birds: Six Plates by George Edwards for USD 1,200.00 (€ 909.30). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by George Edwards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,541.27).
