Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Near Loggio, On The Lake Of Lugano by George Clarkson Stanfield was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,679.60). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clarkson Stanfield - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La Punta della Dogana à Venise, which sold at auction in September 2016 for EUR 67,500.00.

Als die Arbeit Near Loggio, On The Lake Of Lugano von George Clarkson Stanfield im April 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 6.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.679,60) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von George Clarkson Stanfield mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La Punta della Dogana à Venise beobachtet, die im September 2016 für EUR 67.500,00 versteigert wurde.
