In March 2005 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work A Ruined Abbey On An Island In An Italianate Lake by George Clarkson Stanfield. The auction ended at the price of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 4,369.19), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Clarkson Stanfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Punta della Dogana à Venise in September 2016 with an auction result of EUR 67,500.00.
