Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a Seated Lady by Geoffrey Mukasa was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Art and Photography from Africa and the Diaspora auction at Bonhams in New York in July last year. The price achieved of USD 6,120.00 (€ 5,998.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Geoffrey Mukasa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fisherwoman, which sold at auction in March 2021 for GBP 12,112.50 (€ 14,229.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a Seated Lady von Geoffrey Mukasa wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art and Photography from Africa and the Diaspora bei Bonhams in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 6.120,00 (€ 5.998,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Geoffrey Mukasa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fisherwoman beobachtet, die im März 2021 für GBP 12.112,50 (€ 14.229,07) versteigert wurde.
