The work Mutmassungen su Das Urtier by Gaetano Pompa was worth EUR 7,688.00 to a buyer in May 2003. This price was achieved in the auction ARTE MODERNA E CONTEMPORANEA at Christies in Milan and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 2,200.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gaetano Pompa; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Mutmassungen Sul Paesaggio Italiano sold at auction in November 2004 with the realized price of EUR 14,880.00.
