In December 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Portrait Of A Young Man, Bust-Length, Wearing A Red Cap And Gesturing To The Viewer by Gaetano Gandolfi. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 225,000.00 (€ 253,204.54), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gaetano Gandolfi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diana and Callisto in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 4,114,500.00 (€ 2,966,474.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Man, Bust-Length, Wearing A Red Cap And Gesturing To The Viewer von Gaetano Gandolfi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 225.000,00 (€ 253.204,54) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gaetano Gandolfi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Diana and Callisto im Januar 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.114.500,00 (€ 2.966.474,41).
