Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Cain and the slain Abel by Gaetano Gandolfi. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,922.12) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gaetano Gandolfi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diana and Callisto in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 4,114,500.00 (€ 2,966,474.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cain and the slain Abel von Gaetano Gandolfi zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 20.922,12) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gaetano Gandolfi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Diana and Callisto im Januar 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.114.500,00 (€ 2.966.474,41).
