Sold at the lower estimate price
The work Unknown by Friedrich Capelari was sold in the JapaneseArt and Design Including Netsuke from the Estate of His Royal Highness The Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, KG.,KT.,KP auction at Christies in London in July 2006. The result of GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,756.66) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Friedrich Capelari - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work White birds on pomegranate tree at night, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 4,800.00 (€ 4,327.05).
