In October 2019 Christies in New York held the auction European Art Part II, which included the work River Landscape by Frits Thaulow. The result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 53,787.54) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frits Thaulow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall), which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 122,752.22).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion European Art Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit River Landscape von Frits Thaulow zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 53.787,54) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Frits Thaulow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall) beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 96.500,00 (€ 122.752,22) versteigert wurde.
